Marisa Pizzi, PA-C

Marisa Pizzi, PA-C is a certified Physician Assistant (PA-C). She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania, where she focused on Neuroscience. Marisa then served as a research assistant working on a fascinating joint study between the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) and the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) which aimed to better understand pediatric brain development. Marisa then returned to school at Wake Forest University where she earned a Masters of Medical Science and her PA degree. In graduate school she focused on pediatric medical training, including pediatric inpatient medicine, ICU care, and pediatric cardiology. She lives in center city Philadelphia with her husband, son and dogs, and spends her spare time working on her 150-year-old Philadelphia townhouse and playing in softball leagues.

Physician assistants are health care professionals licensed to practice medicine under physician supervision. As part of their comprehensive responsibilities, PAs conduct physical exams, diagnose and treat illnesses, order and interpret tests, counsel families on preventive healthcare, assist in surgery, and write prescriptions. Within the physician-PA relationship, physician assistants exercise autonomy in medical decision-making and provide a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services. A PA's practice may also include education, research, and administrative services. PAs are trained in intensive education programs accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC- PA).
